When Your Employees Are Caring For Their Parents.
With people living longer comes the need to provide extra custodial and medical care for those individuals. In large part, it has become the job of the adult children to take care of their aging parents – making sure their parents are safe and receive the companionship and medical attention they require. And those adult children caring for their parents are your employees! What do employees need and employers expect when it comes to dealing with these issues?
This course focuses on several aspects of elder care and elder law:
ˇ circumstances requiring custodial and medical care for seniors
ˇ services available to families when they need elder care
ˇ avoiding elder abuse
ˇ executing Powers of Attorney and Advance Directives for Health Care, and the risks of failing to do so
ˇ guardianship actions
ˇ wills, estate planning and estate administration
ˇ other legal tools available to families to assist the caregiving process
ˇ the impact this process is having on the Baby Boomer generation
This course will then address the growing need for employers to recognize and accommodate these issues as they affect the workplace:
ˇ anti-discrimination
ˇ flexible work hours and absenteeism
ˇ best policies and practices
