Human Resources Generalist
Job Summary:
- Maintain Human Resources best practices and procedures.
- Keep abreast of current human resources trends, developments, and legal issues, ensuring that human resources practices are consistent and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist Human Resources Manager on all immigration, visa, and citizenship related issues (i.e. proper I-9 documentation, H1-B visa requests, immigration guidance in general).
- Manage all benefit programs/systems including enrollments, terminations, status changes for medical, dental, 401k, FMLA etc….
- Review benefit billings from insurance providers for accuracy; resolve any discrepancies.
- Maintain COBRA records and process COBRA payments to accounting.
- Create offer letters and employee agreements for new hires and consultants.
- Audit bi-weekly payroll and function as backup to payroll processor.
- Maintain and update Human Resource records and forms including new hire packets and directories.
- Enter new hire paperwork, create new employee files and verify correct benefit dollar rates in HRIS system.
- Initiate background checks and drug testing in accordance with client requirements.
- Coordinate first day details for new hires.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the HR department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Excellent phone presentation and communication skills
- Excellent employee relations skills
- Candidate needs to be professional, self-motivated and computer savvy
- Proven ability to work independently
- Flexible and able to manage time effectively
- Attention to detail is a must
- MS Word and Excel experience required
- 4-6 years in an HR Generalist role or equivalent experience
- Prior experience with HRIS systems preferably Paychex
- Experience in an IT consulting environment a plus
- Work Location – Somerset, NJ
- Hours 8:30 – 5:30 with 1 hour for lunch
